CUBA PART 2.
So I awoke to a simple breakfast and a small cup of cafe cubano. We quickly headed out to spend a day at the beach, and not the touristy kind, but a secret one Eduardo always snuck off too with his friends in his younger years. The white sand Caribbean beach was magnificent. The water was warm and calm and all we did was sip beers and floated in the current. After a little nap we packed up and drove back to the house. Across the street was a little "casa particular" which is a restaurant/house run buy the owners. The people were very nice and good friends with Eduardo and Edith. We sat in on the waiting couch and chatted it up with some locals about the US and politics, which in the Cuba travel book was suggested highly to avoid these conversations, but I was pretty sure I was on their side. We had some more local beer and devoured our massive lunch. Afterwards I went into a food comma back at the house. A few hours later Eduardo knocked on my door with a nice little cuba libre drink. Once we finished that we got dressed and ready for a night on the town. Having no idea where we are going, we pulled up to an old oil factory that was lit up in all kids of fancy lights. As we waited in line of what seemed to be a club, the music was vibrating the walls. We got our tickets and entered. There were tons of little awkward shaped rooms that were filled with unique pieces of cuban artwork and photos and statues. Never seen anything like it. And I doubt many other Americans saw it because they aren't allowed inside. But I was able to sneak around this by pretending I was mute, compliments of one of many Eduardo's brilliant schemes. We also saw many shows, acts, and musicians over the course of the night while alternating sipping on cafe cubano and cocktails. After the grand show was over we went back to the house and watched American music videos on the teli, because that and the news were all they had to offer down there. And Edith was so kind to make us a little cuban sandwich and pour us a glass of seven year old rum. At this point me and Eduardo have been sharing photos of family and understanding the connection between us. By know Eduardo already feels like the best uncle ever.
