CUBA PART 3.

Waking up the third day was quite exhausting but there was no time to waste. Got my tourist shopping needs out of the way in the big vendor market, which to me, was not very impressive since I come from a seasoned travel palette where I see many markets abroad. All are the same. Eduardo was kind enough to take time out of his morning and drive Edith and I into Old Havana where we would then take the rest of our journey by foot. We saw many old chapels and streets filled of color and life. Little ninos playing with a ball in the central plaza where tourists snapped photos of the infamous cuban ladies with their gigantic cigars hanging from their mouths. Edith would be narrating the history of every section we came across giving me the insiders look on almost everything. I felt like a history major after the day was over. Our long journey trekking through the cobble stone streets came close to an end when we reached the main plaza where all the shiny, well kept, old, drop-dead gorgeous cars where lined up on the sidewalk begging for people to ride them. Couldn't help snag a few photos next to the hot pink ones... Next little leg of the journey was to walk the long bare sidewalk in front of the Capitola, which was always under construction, but still an interesting sight to see. I left the task of waving down a taxi to Edith who was well acquainted with the city scene. Along came a raggedy looking old car that smelled of gas fumes that picked us and a few others up. I had absolutely no idea where I was going, but as long as I was with Edith I was sure I was fine. Note to self that I would have no idea how to get back home if I was on my own. Connections are key. Although the taxi ride was over, we still we not even close to the casa. A two mile hike was ahead of us, and not to my knowledge, but it tired me out enough so that I could take a nice long two hour nap which was disrupted when Eduardo came in with my daily happy hour cocktail. A Cuba Libre. Very refreshing I must say. The rest of the night was spent drinking and sharing photos of our relatives we have in common. Also watching american music videos on the TV.
