CUBA PART 6.
My trip was coming to an end at this point. All I could do was smile at this point. I was living the care free Caribbean life now. I promised my family that I would treat them to a nice meal at their favorite restaurant, they would only except this as payment for letting me stay with them. So they decided on "The Blues" restaurant which was very interesting. All the waiters and waitresses that worked there were famous Cuban actors. So when they are not acting they come here to work. Eduardo was up most of the time looking at the photos posted on the walls of famous people that have visited this restaurant. My waiter was very handsome I must say and Eduardo got to talking with him about one of his lines in a TV show. The line was in english and he didn't know how to say it the correct way. So I helped him out and he was so grateful he sent us free drinks after free drinks. Once lunch was finished, we all stood up and realized we had one too many drinks... even Eduardo had the giggles. So instead of driving home we walked the streets some more, buying loads of rum and cigars to take back to the mother land. Then we got back in the car and Eduardo took me to his favorite childhood spot in central Havana where his father took him fishing. This place was magical. It was like central park in New York, but the Cuban version. So peaceful. It meant a lot to me that Eduardo shared this spot with me, and he hoped that I would someday come back with my family and pass on the story. Next we drove a little ways out of town to the poorer part. This is where Eduardo's brother lived. A very religious man. He lived a simple life with his wife and he didn't have much to his name. But he served me water in his finest china and fed me his best fruit. He was too kind. After a little family reunion he went back to the house for happy hour and to get ready for our last night adventure... the national ballet! So we put on our fancy outfits and hit the town. The ballet was also a magical experience. No americans are usually allowed in this theatre, but once again Eduardo worked his magic... The next morning I would be heading off to the airport.
